The 3 days Gorilla Habituation Tour from Kigali offers one of the world’s most exceptional wildlife encounters, including encounters with the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Gorilla Habituation Experience offers more than gorilla trekking. You will have a chance to spend up to 4 hours with the mountain gorillas in their natural environment. This is different from gorilla trekking, where visitors spend only 1 hour.
Gorilla Habituation Experience is done in Uganda’s only Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda’s prime gorilla trekking destination and is known for having over 400 mountain gorillas. Seeing the mountain gorillas in Bwindi can be accessed from the park’s 4 major gorilla trekking points. These include Rushaga, Buhoma, Nkuringo, and Ruhija in Bwindi. Of all the gorilla trekking regions in Bwindi, Rushaga is the only region where gorilla Habituation is done. This will be your region of concentration during the 3-day Gorilla Habituation Tour. Details of the 3-Day Gorilla Habituation Tour from Kigali
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Rushaga – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Meet and greet your guide/driver for the next 3 days of safari. Your guide will take you through a briefing including the accommodation, activities, and destinations. This includes the border crossing time and distance from Rwanda to Uganda. Later, you will embark on a scenic drive out of Kigali through the lush green and rugged hills of Rwanda to the Katuna Border post, where you cross to Uganda. Later, you will proceed to Rushaga Gorilla sector in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Arrive at your lodge and check in. Enjoy a relaxed and peaceful evening. After your dinner, your guide will take you through a pre-briefing about gorilla trekking, including what to pack for gorilla trekking, what to wear, and what to pack, including a face mask and bottled drinking water. Enjoy a peaceful overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience
Rise early and enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge, and later proceed to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a briefing about the gorilla Habituation Experience, including the rules and guidelines to follow while observing the gorillas in their natural habitats. Gorilla Habituation Experience is done in groups of 4 pax. You will be assigned a specific gorilla family and accompanied by 2 armed ranger guides to provide security and safety while observing the gorillas.
Begin your gorilla Habituation Experience as you trek through the dense tropical rainforests in search of the mountain gorillas. The trackers will keep in contact with your rangers until you find the gorillas. You will be granted up to 4 hours of observing the gorillas in their setting, including capturing photo moments with them. Remember to maintain a 10-meter distance and do not use flash photography. After the experience, you will descend to the starting point where you will receive your Gorilla Habituation Certificates from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Return to the lodge and enjoy a relaxed afternoon and evening as you unwind from the long day of Gorilla Habituation Experience. Enjoy a relaxed dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Return to Kigali International Airport and Departure
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the lodge and later check out after your breakfast. Please be sure to pack all your belongings and embark on a scenic drive back to Kigali, including a border crossing at Katuna. En route for the next 3 hours to Kigali Airport and check in for a flight to your next destination as you conclude the 3-day Gorilla Habituation Tour.
