Welcome to the 3 Days Kibale Chimpanzee trekking safari – the journey to the world’s Primate Capital! Uganda is a country gifted by nature with extraordinary sites and wildlife. Your 3 days Kibale Chimpanzee Safari will introduce you to the playful primate and other smaller monkey species in Kibale National Park. Uganda is home to over 5000 chimpanzees, and over 4000 live in Kibale National Park. Besides the chimpanzees, you will also visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a birders’ paradise, and a hub for many primates and mammals. You will also make cultural tours in the villages of the local people of the Batooro and Bakiga people. Now, let us view the entire itinerary in detail.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale National Park

Our driver guide will pick you up on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. They will brief you about the 3 days Kibale Chimpanzee Safari or tour. You will then be taken to Kibale National Park by road.  Lunch will be en route to the park. In the evening, you will check into your lodge just in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

On the second day, after a hearty breakfast, our driver will take you to the Kibale National Park offices for a pre-trek briefing. This is where the adventure truly begins. Led by experienced rangers, you’ll venture into the lush forests of Kibale, home to the playful chimpanzee primates. The trek is both exhilarating and educational, as you may also spot other primate species, such as blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and vervet monkeys. This is a unique opportunity to observe these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.

After the chimpanzees have been allocated, you will be given an hour with them in their natural habitats. You then head back to the park offices, where our driver guide will drive you back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will commence at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a breathtaking birding haven for birders. You will spot unique bird species like the shoebill, African kingfisher, and African eagle. The wetland also invites primate species like the olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and the rest, and mammal species like antelopes, bush pigs, and mongooses. After the tour in Bigodi, you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Cultural tours and departure

On the final day of your 3 days Kibale chimpanzee safari, you’ll start with a delicious breakfast at your lodge. Our driver guide will take you to the local communities for a cultural tour. This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditions of the Batooro and Bakiga people. You’ll learn about their cultures, enjoy traditional dances and songs, and even get a taste of their local beer. The Batooro are known for their hospitality, often giving pet names to their guests, known as empako. After a culture-filled day, you’ll have an en-route lunch as you depart from Entebbe International Airport.
