Thousands of adventurers flock to Uganda and Rwanda yearly for these extraordinary experiences. If you’re eager to encounter the impressive mountain gorillas up close, we’re here to assist you in planning your perfect luxury gorilla safari. However, we understand that the cost of gorilla safaris, particularly the permits, can be a significant barrier for many. For instance, a license in Rwanda costs $1500 per person. In Uganda, the fees are lower but still substantial: $800 per person for foreign non-residents, $700 for foreign residents, and Shs 300,000 for citizens of the East African community. The high cost of permits makes gorilla trekking a significant financial commitment.

Gorilla trekking discounts for combining gorilla trips with other Rwanda National Parks

Another exciting gorilla trekking special in Rwanda offers travelers a 30% discount when they combine gorilla trekking with visits to other national parks, such as Nyungwe Forest National Park and/or Akagera National Park.

To be eligible for this discount, visitors must stay for three days and two nights in one of the other National Parks (Nyungwe or Akagera). They must also provide a payment receipt from their accommodation and show evidence of having paid for one activity.

The first permit must be bought at the regular price of $1500 per person.

Suppose you need an extra discounted gorilla trekking permit. You will need a supplementary three-day, two-night safari in Nyungwe Forest National Park or Akagera National Park and a confirmation payment receipt as proof.

However, there are no refunds for travelers who do not show up on the scheduled trekking date, and your gorilla trekking permit should be regarded as expired.

The best time of the year to enjoy the available Gorilla Trekking discounts

Traditionally, the best time for gorilla trekking is the dry season, from June through October. This is because reduced rainfall makes the forest trails easier to navigate. However, for various reasons, Native Africa Tours offers visitors the benefits of gorilla trekking during the wet season.

In addition to the gorilla trekking discounts offered during the wet or low season, embarking on these adventures at this time of year provides other advantages.

Now is the ideal moment to avoid crowds, with fewer visitors in the park and at the Safari Lodges and Camps. This results in no queues at the Park Headquarters and minimal encounters with international travelers. As with any other destination, the peak season draws the most significant number of tourists, so if you want to steer clear of crowds, aim to trek the mountain gorillas during the wet season.

The wet season offers ideal conditions for photography. With increased rainfall, the vegetation turns greener and lusher, and the sky clears of dust following rain showers. Moreover, photographers can experience the beauty of Volcanoes National Park at sunset, when the sky ignites with vibrant colors cutting through the majestic clouds, and at sunrise.
