Virunga National Park is an old African park, created back in 1925, and occupies a vast area of 7800 sq. km. It supports a diversity of species including 218 mammals, and 700 bird species, and features afro-montane forests, savanna grasslands, and marshlands.

Day 1: Kigali city tour & drive to the lodge in the Virunga

After a delicious breakfast, you will begin exploring Kigali city –Africa’s cleanest city and this includes touring the Gisozi Memorial Center, the former presidential palace, and the main city market plus craft shops. Get to one of the classic restaurants for an early lunch or have it at the Congo border. Clear with Congo offices before you cross to the Virunga National Park. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge for relaxation and a night stay.

Day 2: Visit Congo mountain gorillas in Virunga

You will have a hefty breakfast, followed by a briefing at the Virunga Park offices. The park official will put you in sub-groups of 8 guests. Each group is assigned an experienced park guide to lead you through a gorilla trek. Today’s primate walk takes 2-5 hours and covers one hour to be spent face-to-face with a family of mountain gorillas. Retreat from the Virunga jungles and relax before you head to Senkwekwe Center where orphaned gorillas live.

Day 3: Exit Virunga National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred back from Virunga to Kigali. In Kigali, you will have two options; get dropped off at the hotel or airport for departure. This will mark the end of your spectacular 3 Days Congo Virunga Gorilla Safari.
