Hiking Mountain Rwenzori

Mountain Rwenzori is one of the interesting destinations in Kasese. It is among the snow-capped mountains in Africa. Mount Rwenzori is located at the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hiking this mountain takes about 7 to 9 days depending on one’s level of fitness. Hiking Mountain Rwenzori ends at the highest summit known as Margherita Peak. There is no other adventure than kissing the snow-capped Margherita Peak. Hikers take different routes including the Kilembe Trail, the Central Circuit, and many others.

Game Drives

This is one of the common activities done by tourists in Kasese (Queen Elizabeth National Park). The park has several tracks that travelers explore during game drives. You can hire a car to take you on a game drive when you are in Kasese or Katunguru. Usually, game drives are done in 4×4 safari vehicles with a pop-up roof. The wildlife encountered during game drives include; lions, leopards, buffaloes, warthogs, kobs, waterbucks, elephants, hippos, and many others. This game drive is done in several sessions that include the morning, afternoon, evening, night, and full-day sessions. To engage in this activity, travelers are supposed to pay for the park entrance fees.

Experiential activities

Experiential activities are one of the activities that travelers engage in to have a close experience with the wildlife in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. These experiential activities include lion tracking, Mongoose tracking, birding, and hippo census.  Experiential activities are usually done early morning or late in the evening.

Birding

The Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the best bird destinations in Uganda where travelers encounter several bird species. There are about 600 bird species that are recorded which travelers can encounter on their safaris. This session of birding is usually done early in the morning and late in the evening. Some of the bird species encountered on the safaris include flamingos, pied kingfishers, white-winged warblers, malachite kingfishers, greater swamp welders, Black bishop, Robin-Chat, and many others.

Chimpanzee trekking

This is an exciting primate encounter done in Kyambura Gorge. The gorge has several chimpanzee families available for trekking.
