Lake Kivu is a shared freshwater Lake between Rwanda and D.R. Congo. It is one of the Great Lakes in Africa lying within the Albertine Rift Valley area, the Western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley. This freshwater Lake pours its water into the Ruzizi River that flows southwards into Lake Tanganyika. Lake Kivu has a length of 42 sq. cm and a width of 50 km, with a surface area measuring 2700 sq. km

Day 1: Drive to Lake Kivu

After a delicious breakfast, set off from Kigali to Lake Kivu located in the Western Province of Rwanda. This will be 4 hours drive and the lake lies in Gisenyi town. You will have a relaxed afternoon inclusive of a boat ride or just chill at the lodge property that was pre-booked by your tour operator.

Day 2: Full-Day Lake Kivu excursion

The day excursion at Lake Kivu includes chilling at the Lake beaches while engaging in a series of water sports experiences. You will have a complete boat ride experience on Lake Kivu leading to some of its beautiful islands. Other possible water sports include kayaking and fishing tours.

Day 3: Kayak/boat ride & back to Kigali

Set off for another session of a boat ride on the calm waters of Lake Kivu to Kibuye. You may also engage in Kayaking. After, begin your trip back to Kigali to be dropped at the airport for departure. Alternatively, the driver may drop you at a hotel for a night’s sleep.
