Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Nature Walk
Your adventure begins with an early departure from Kampala/Entebbe, where you will be welcomed by a guide from Native Africa Tours. You will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, enjoying the picturesque landscapes and vibrant local life along the way. After covering about 70km along the Kampala-Mbarara highway, you will arrive at the Equator Monument in Kayabwe. You will have a quick picture moment with your safari guide and then proceed with your journey.
Upon your arrival at Lake Mburo National Park, you will check into your accommodation and embark on an evening nature guided walk. Guided by an expert, this walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park will allow you to explore the park’s unique flora and fauna, giving you the chance to spot various wildlife species in their natural habitat as the sun sets. Your Guide will drive you back to the lodge after this amazing safari activity for dinner and relaxation.
Note: Lake Mburo National Park also offers one of the best night safaris in the country. While on this activity, you have an opportunity to spot some leopards and hyenas. You can inform our expert safari consultants to add it to your package.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Bwindi National Park
On day two, you will rise early for a morning safari game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. As you traverse the park, you will look out for wildlife such as zebras, giraffes, and various antelopes. After your game drive, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive will take you through stunning landscapes, and once you arrive, you can check into your accommodation and prepare for the thrilling experiences ahead.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Optional Batwa Community Tour
Day three will be the highlight of your safari as you embark on a gorilla trekking expedition. After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking protocols. Guided by experienced trackers, you will venture into the dense forest in search of a family of mountain gorillas. The encounter with these magnificent creatures will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With the help of expert rangers, you are only allowed to spend 1 hour with the Mountain Gorillas. After your trek, you will return to your briefing area, and you will be awarded a Gorilla Trekking certificate as proof that you trekked the Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi.
Note: If you are a Mountain Gorilla enthusiast, you can book a Gorilla habituation Experience instead of the standard Gorilla trek in Bwindi. This habituation experience gives you a chance to spend 4 hours with the gorillas as opposed to the 1 hour during the standard gorilla trekking. As of 2026, the Gorilla Habituation Experience permit is sold at $1500. However, the Uganda Wildlife Authority recently announced that with effect from 1st January 2027, the gorilla habituation permit will be sold at $1800 per individual.
In the afternoon, if time allows, you will have the option to visit the Batwa community, where you will learn about their traditional way of life and their significant role in the conservation of the area, enriching your understanding of local culture. However, this experience is strictly self-catered by the Guests themselves.
Note: Remember to carry some cash money to tip the community members and also buy some souvenirs from the community as a way of directly supporting their livelihoods.
Day 4: Game Drive in Ishasha and Evening Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
On the fourth day, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park from Bwindi. You should note that the road from Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park is an African dirt road. The journey between these destinations takes about 2-5 hours, depending on the trekking region you visit. Native Africa Tours has made a compilation about how to choose the best Gorilla Trekking region in Bwindi.
Once you arrive in the Ishasha region, our guide will take you on a Safari game drive in this sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. The chances of spotting the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha are between 50%-65%, leaving other factors constant. As you explore this unique area, keep your eyes peeled for these incredible felines and other wildlife. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, you will enjoy an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This serene experience will provide close-up views of hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species, all while taking in the breathtaking scenery.
