Welcome to the 3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s largest national park covering an area of 3893 km2 and it’s located in the north-western part of Uganda. The Park was established in 1952, and it’s famous for its strongest waterfalls in the world where the River Nile forces its way through 7 meters gap before it explodes to the Albertine delta.

Murchison Falls National Park inhabits about 76 mammals and over 450 bird species. It’s known for the highest concentration of Hippos and crocodiles along the river bank. It is also home to the big 5 mammals including; lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards.

Murchison Falls National Park is adjacent to Budongo forest which is a chimpanzee sanctuary and this guarantees you to track chimpanzees in this forest. The Park is unique since you will be able to see animals, primates, forests, and beautiful terrain. 

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Our professional driver guide will pick you up from the hotel at around 7:30 am, give you a short briefing about the journey, and set off. The journey will take you about 5-6 hours but with stopovers. You will branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking for about 2 hours. After tracking you will go for lunch in Masindi and then later continue with the journey to the park. You will reach in the evening, and check in your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Wake up as early as 6:30 am, have breakfast, and embark on your game drive. This activity takes about 2-3 hours but it’s really rewarding since you will see carnivorous animals enjoying their hunts. For example, lions feeding on buffaloes, and leopards putting down antelopes which is a once-in-lifetime experience one should never miss.

Also, you may come across different bird species in tree branches chirping their sweet melodies, something that will make your game drive colorful. Meet a herd of grazers and browsers for example buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, waterbucks, etc.

After this game drive, you will go back to the hotel for relaxation and have lunch. In the afternoon at around 2 pm, this will be after lunch, you will head out for a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls. Get to see the magical Nile River forcing its water into the narrow gorge forming the world’s strongest waterfalls.

While on this launch cruise, you will meet schools of hippos floating on the river and crocodiles sunbathing at the river bank while elephants and buffaloes quench their thirst on the river banks. After this busy evening, go back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest and transfer back to Kampala

Wake up as early as 6:30 am, have a packed breakfast, pack your luggage, check out from the hotel, and embark on the chimpanzee tracking adventure in Budongo forest. This is one of its kind since Budongo forest is one of the best chimpanzee sanctuaries and gives the best experience of chimpanzee trekking.

The forest is home to over 150 bird species thus making 2 activities chimpanzee trekking and bird watching happen at once. After these activities, you will proceed on your journey and be transferred to Kampala. Have a stopover at Masindi for lunch en route and proceed with the journey to Kampala. This will mark the end of your amazing 3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari.
